Final submission

Why I could not submit a final submission of my magazine was due to not having the appropriate programs installed in my computer. I also had all my magazine files in my school computer that was assigned to me in my media studies class. These are the reasons why I am unable to submit my finished magazine.

Reflection Question 4

How I incorporated technology in my magazine was by using my partner Marty’s iPhone X. The setting she put the phone in was for the camera to take a square photo. This allowed for a closer look at the dish for different angles that we took the photos. Thankfully the pictures came out great that we did not have to edit that picture or touch it up.

Reflection Question 3

In the beginning of the project I did not know anything about the program Indesign, how to create a two page spread, and how to use different features on my phone to take pictures of my dishes. As time progressed during the duration of the class we learned how to use Indesign and how to create a two page spread. When it came to taking pictures of the dishes I created for my magazine my partner and I saw the different types of edits you could pick. As for time management and scheduling luckily my partner Marty and I are friends and both did not have a hard time finding time to create our magazine.

Creative Critical Reflection Questions

1. In my magazine I used some convectional aspects that other magazines use. For instance in my front cover the name of my magazine is bold and big and then I have subheading underneath. This is usual when it comes to food magazines. For my front cover I also did some text box talking about other issues that would be discussed in the magazine. Having this characteristic in my magazine shows the involvement of some convections that are utilized in other magazines. In my articles the layout I proceeded to use is convectional for a food magazine. The list of ingredients and the recipe were displayed for the readers to see clearly and have no confusion on what to do. I also gave a brief description of the why the dish is festive and simple to make for the holidays. Lastly, another convection I used was the angle in which the photos were taken. In many food related magazines when a picture of the dish is displayed there are some close up shots, side shots, before and after, and above the dish shots. Using from my previous research I managed to use there techniques in my own magazine. I did this because it would allow the reader to see how the dish is suppose to look like and in a way give them a visual guideline.
2. How my magazine will be engaging with the audience will be through social media and eventually creating an Ad. Our target audience is food fanatics that through enjoy reading and making recipes from the magazine. The age range that we are seeking is between the ages 25 and up. We plan to reach out audience my creating an instagram page. This page will have pictures of some dishes that our magazine talks about. We also will be letting our audience know when a certain issue is coming out. Some magazines we used as reference were Simply Southern, Food & Wine, and Bon Appetite. All these magazines had similar target audiences in which we were aiming for and gave us the opportunity to see how these magazines reached out to their readers. We plan to distribute our magazine digitally. We plan on using an app called Magzter Newsstand. This app allows us to have our magazine on their app and allow for our readers to purchase the magazine through there. Some magazines that use this app is Food & Wine, Bon Appetite and Food Network magazine.

Third Quarter Submission

The revisions I made in my two page spread is by creating my articles in the program called Indesign. Indesign allowed for me to use new techniques and allow for my photos to come out more clear and focused. The fonts that I used are the same as before; I did not want to change the font because I liked how it complimented the pictures and the aesthetic I was trying to convey.

For my revised front cover I did a couple changes. My entire font cover picture is different and the font for the subheading is different as well. I decided to change the front cover picture because I thought it was a better quality picture but also it allowed for my story previews to be seen more clearly. For my subheading I changed the font to a more cursive font due to it fitting with my Christmas issue I was doing. 
For my revised table of contents I used Indesign to re-create it. I believed that using this program would allow me for my pictures to come out better quality. I was underlined pg just to add a little more detail to it. The font remained to be Times New Roman although the font size is 36. Being a bit bigger will allow the audience to see them more clearly.
